I, the undersigned, an American citizen, taxpayer, and voter.

Whereas the U.S. is facing one of the worst recessions since the Great Depression;

Whereas consumer spending and economic activity has contracted causing the downturn and high unemployment;

Whereas the Bush tax cuts, enacted in 2001 and 2003, will fully and automatically expire as of Dec. 31, 2010;

Whereas the expiration of these cuts will cause a massive tax rate increase for almost all working Americans, including those in the:

35% bracket which will increase to 39.6%

33% bracket which will increase to 36%

28% bracket which will increase to 31%

25% bracket which will increase to 28%

10% and 15% will condense to 15%

Whereas the capital gains tax will increase from 15% to 20%

Whereas the tax on dividends will increase from 15% to 39.6%

Based on this next article, that I just read, I thought I'd do my own list, since the article was simply TOO nice! I've added my commentary at the end of each of their 10 reasons.

10. I voted Democrat because I believe oil companies' profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn't.

LV: Actually, the taxes are much higher than 15%. Depending on which State and City you live in, the total taxes per gallon can run as low as 60 cents a gallon to as high as just under a DOLLAR a gallon... meaning a gallon of gas that costs $2.40 a gallon at the pump, with 60 cents in taxes, would cost only $1.80 a gallon without the taxes, so the 60 cents of taxes is a 30% tax rate on that gallon. That same gallon of gas in a city/state with a dollar a gallon of taxes would have a 50% tax rate.  These already ridiculously high taxes may change upward soon with a new round of tax increases by cities, states and Washington, D.C., because instead of cutting the size of government to be in line with the shrinking economy, goverments continue to grow by leaps and bounds.  Right now, just the federal tax is 18.7 cents per gallon, not counting the taxes they charge on the oil as it's extracted from the wells.... which runs as high as 18% the last I checked so it's taxes on top of taxes... whereas the so-called BIG oil companies are making around 4 cents per gallon profit and then they have to pay income taxes on that amount. When gas was $1.25 a gallon, not that long ago, the effective tax rate would have been enarly 100% since without the 60 cents in taxes, the gas would have been 65 cents a gallon.

9. I voted Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.

LV: If folks really believe that after all the news stories that have been done showing how often and how much government wastes their money, then these folks should be locked up in an asylum as they have completely lost their minds.

8. I voted Democrat because Freedom of speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it.

LV: Political Correction and the LSM have done almost as much to harm Freedom Of Speech than ALL of the communist, fascist or socialist dictators combined. OK.. I know that's not really true but at least when folks were being muted by a dictator, they knew who the enemy was and it was uaually only the government... but with political correctness brain-washing so many college students, the media and others, the enemy isn't as easily defined or identified.

7. I voted Democrat because I'm way too irresponsible to own a gun, and I know that my local police are all I need to protect me from murderers and thieves.

LV: Actually, the inner cities, which are most likely to vote democrat see and live in many crime infested neighborhoods and have to cower in fear in their homes to avoid being in contact with the criminals that own their streets. They don't trust the police to protect them so they just live like prisoners in their own homes. As far as being irresponsible, well that happens to them because they rely on the government too much for running their lives... the same government that is miserably failing them at every step... instead of taking responsibility for their own lives.

6. I voted Democrat because I believe that people who can't tell us if it will rain on Friday can tell us that the polar ice caps will melt away in ten years if I don't start driving a Prius.

LV: I've talked many times, about how meteoroligists can't predict tomorrows weather in a specific city or the path of a hurricane in a specific region... and yet we are supposed to believe they have a clue about what is going to happen to the world's climate over the next 10 or 20 years. The Climate-Gate email scandals have PROVEN that global warming or climate change or whatever their name-du-jour is... IS PURE BULLSHIT!!!

5. I voted Democrat because I'm not concerned about the slaughter of millions of babies through abortion so long as we keep all death row inmates alive.

LV: Well, I think I've made my points so far, so my answer to this and the next four are painfully obvious. If you want more details, look down the list of Labels and Articles to the left and read more of what I think, know and feel.

4. I voted Democrat because I think illegal aliens have a right to free health care, education, and Social Security benefits.

3. I voted Democrat because I believe that business should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution as the democrats see fit.

2. I voted Democrat because I believe liberal judges need to rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit some fringe kooks who would never get their agendas past the voters.

Why Do SOME Jails Cost So Much Taxpayer Money??? - L.A. Jail Built For $74 MILLION ONLY Houses 600 Inmates

I wrote about this 20 years ago down here in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, when the now deceased Sheriff Harry Lee spent $40 MILLION on a 400 bed facility... $100,000.00 per bed... but it seems the City Of Los Angeles has outdone Harry Lee's ridiculous spending record by spending $74 MILLION on a 600 bed facility.  I'm being generous here since one short news article said it was a 500 bed facility but a much longer L.A. Times article said that the jail was composed of four pods, each capable of holding 125 inmates, which would be 600 beds.

Now, this calculates out to $123,000.00 per bed, not $123,000.00 per cell, which would be bad enough... but it's $123,000.00 per bed!!!!!  Of course, if it's only 500 beds, then the cost to taxpayers would be $148,000.00 per bed!!!!!

I haven't mentioned yet, that this new $74 MILLION jail sits empty because of the City of L.A.'s other wasteful government spending that leaves it with nearly a HALF BILLION DOLLAR budget deficit so they can't afford to hire more deputies to staff the new jail. NOW THAT IS BEYOND STUPID THAT THEY ARE LETTING PRISONERS OUT OF THE OLD JAIL EVERY DAY, DUE TO SO-CALLED OVERCROWDING, WHILE A BIG NEW JAIL SITS EMPTY.

THE TAXPAYERS OF LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA SHOULD BE STORMING CITY HALL TO TAR AND FEATHER (OR HANG) THEIR POLITICIANS FOR THESE KINDS OF IGNORANT DECISIONS!!!  OR... MAYBE THEY COULD JUST THROW ALL THEIR POLITICIANS INTO THE NEW JAIL... OR BETTER YET, THE OLD JAIL AND USE THE NEW JAIL FOR THE REST OF THE CRIMINALS!  NOW THAT WOULD MAKE IT WORTH THE COST!!!!!

HEY L.A.... THIS AIN'T ROCKET SCIENCE!  LET ME OFFER A SOLUTION TO YOUR PROBLEM!  Take some cops off the streets to man the new jail. For every criminal you all release, it results in dozens of new crimes every month by these released inmates. If they are locked up, they won't be committing crimes and you won't need as many cops out on the streets. The majority of crimes, especially violent crimes, are committed by criminals with long RAP sheets. Very few criminals start off burglarizing homes, robbing people, raping women, murdering people, etc. as their first crimes. They usually have a lengthy juvenile and adult arrest record long before they commit their most serious crimes.

Compare this kind of utterly ridiculous and outrageous figure of $74,000,000.00 ($74 MILLION) to house 600 inmates to what Sheriff Joe Arpaio spent for his MASSIVE Tent City jail in Maricopa County, Arizona, which cost ONLY $100,000.00 (ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS) and holds over 2,400 inmates... ONLY $41.00 per bed!!!!!  Sheriff Arpaio made the decision to build this BIG Tent City after a study showed it would cost over $70 MILLION to build a *normal* jail in Maricopa County.

WHY DON'T POLITICIANS UNDERSTAND THAT THE MONEY THEY ARE SPENDING DOES NOT GROW ON TREES AND FOR EVERY DOLLAR THEY WASTE, THE TASK COULD PROBABLY HAVE BEEN DONE FOR A FRACTION OF THE COST IF THEY HAD DONE THEIR JOBS AND BEEN MORE FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE WITH THE TAXPAYER'S MONEY!!!

I welcome your comments... especially if you can give me a logical answer to the question in the title of this blog.

545 People - Updated And Amended From The 1985 Version

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don't propose a federal budget. The president does.

You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.

You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.

You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does.

You and I don't control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 307 million are directly, legally, morally and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party. What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? Nancy Pelosi. She is the leader of the majority party since 2006. She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 307 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts -- of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair.

If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red.

If the Army & Marines are in IRAQ, it's because they want them in IRAQ

If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way.

There are no insoluble government problems.

Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation," or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible. They, and they alone, have the power. They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses. Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees.

I also urge you to support H.R. 391, legislation that would pre-empt EPA's alleged authority to regulated greenhouse gases. If you do not do everything in your power to stop the EPA, I will hold you responsible for what EPA does.

Surely, now you can see the stupidity in claiming that CO2 is pollution when it clearly is not and all plants/trees need CO2 in order to create Oxygen (O2) during photosynthesis. If we did away with CO2 creation, we would also be doing away with Oxygen creation.

A Petition to President Obama and All Congressmen
We the citizens of the United States of America demand that our elected officials in Congress and the White House take immediate action to curb the threat of inflation and higher taxes to this great nation and its people.

We have all witnessed you enact legislation and overreaching programs that have added over $13 trillion to our national debt.

We also realize that your first methods for addressing this drastic situation will be to raise our taxes and allow the onslaught of inflation to attack the wealth of American citizens. And these are not acceptable solutions. In the immortal words of Thomas Jefferson:

“To compel a man to furnish funds for the propagation of ideas he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.”

We the People realize this is not an overnight catastrophe. It has occurred over many years and multiple administrations, and we demand it cease now. We of this petition represent all parties and all people of this country. And we are united. We will not stand silently anymore as years of reckless spending have put at risk our wealth, our retirement savings, and our future. And we will not allow you to hurt the promise we’ve made to our children and grandchildren — that they have the right to achieve financial prosperity and claim their piece of the American Dream. We realize that the only way to get the message across to you is in the voting booths. And this petition serves warning. Inaction on your part will not go unnoticed.


We Are Issuing This Ultimatum to You

1.) Under no circumstances are you to allow the Federal Reserve or any elected official to enact further programs to weaken our monetary system causing crippling inflation to take hold.

Please use the American Energy Alliance website link to join in this grass roots effort to stop Washington from passing another tax and spend program that will cost all of us a LOT more money. Washington politicians are like crack-head drug-addicts and the only way to get them to stop their habit is to cut them off and make them go through withdrawal. Part of this will happen in November but we can't wait until then!!!

Obama's administration has already raised the national debt by nearly FOUR TRILLION DOLLARS in his first 18-24 months in office, which is over a 40% increase in debt since he took office. The Liberal-Progressive-Socialist Democrat control of Congress has resulted in the national debt going up from $8.4 TRILLION at the end of 2006, when they took control of Congress, to over THIRTEEN TRILLION DOLLARS today, so it's nearly $5 TRILLION HIGHER than it was when they took control... in just 3-1/2 years.

It took our fiscally irresponsible, tax and spend politicians in Washington, D.C., from 1776 to 2000 to deficit spend the national debt to the $5 TRILLION level in 2000 and the Democrats in Congress DOUBLED this 224 years of combined deficits in just 3-1/2 years!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!!

But that ain't nothing compared to what Congress and Obama are doing together where, if they aren't stopped, they will DOUBLE THE THIRTEEN TRILLION, TO TWENTY-SIX TRILLION BY THE END OF OBAMA'S SECOND TERM... IF WE DON'T STOP THEM SOON!!!

THIS HAS GOT TO STOP OR WE WILL BE BANKRUPT AS A COUNTRY... IS THIS WHAT YOU WANT TO DO TO YOURSELF, YOUR CHILDREN AND YOUR GRAND CHILDREN???

Help Stop the Secret Gas Tax

The Left wants us to drive our cars less, and they believe the way to achieve that is by raising the cost of gasoline. That's why they want to increase the gas tax.

But they don't want you to know.

They'll deny their latest proposal is a gasoline tax because it doesn't raise the current 18.4 cents per gallon Federal Gasoline Excise Tax. But the details of the Kerry-Lieberman American Power Act reveal a new tax on top of the existing gas tax.

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), a RINO (Republican In Name Only) who helped craft this new gas tax, admitted the higher costs for energy companies "will be passed on" to motorists at the pump.

Don't be fooled by their spin. They call it the American Power Act, but this bill is a gas tax on you and your family.

And OBAMA is using the BP oil spill accident to promote this re-named TAX AND SPEND SCHEME!!!

Are Congressmen Hypocrites Or Are Banking CEO's Spineless???

While catching glimpses of Fox News Channel today, I got the ear-wrenching opportunity to hear a snip of the House Financial Services Committee hearing on the way the banks spent the first part of the TARP money.

Part of this snip entailed an exchange between an unidentified Congressman and some unidentified banking CEO's where the Congressman was asking the banking executives to raise their hands if their banks owned or leased private jets. I think all of the them did... duh! This Congressman then went on to chastise them for running their companies into the ground, taking bailout money (which are really loans, not outright bailouts) from the taxpayers and then having the gall to fly around in these outrageously priced private jets. These CEO's... who are supposed to be strong willed, aggressive leaders sat humbly and took this chastising... much to my chagrin.

I kept hoping and praying that at least one of these CEO's would grow a pair of gonads and stand up and turn the tables on Congress. This is what is should have sounded like....

"So Mr. Congressman, you all and the current CEO and former CEO of your company have run it into the ground over the past eight years by not balancing your budget, spending recklessly and wastefully, borrowing money from any one who would lend it to you and even in the past month have proposed overspending another couple of trillion dollars in money you will have to borrow and pass on in debt to generations to come... and where has your CEO been the past couple of days? Flying around in the most expensive private jet in America... Air Force One. That's right Mr. Congressman... neither Congress nor the President, for the past eight years has balanced the budget and yet you all go around spending money like it's coming out your wazoo and personally, I think you should go blow it out your ass instead!" (And then the CEO walks out of Congress having delivered them a bit of truth that nobody else is willing to tell them!)

The next CEO could get up and add to the chastising of Congress by informing them that it was Congress that gave them the TARP money with no strings attached and that if Congress thought they were so almighty, why didn't they have the forethought to include stipulations to go with the acceptance of TARP money?

Each of the succeeding CEO's could pile on the chastising of Congress and then walk out and tell Congress to kiss their respective asses while they walked out the door.

What could Congress do? If they don't give the banks more TARP money, they'll be biting off their noses to spite their faces because Congress already preached to the people that if they didn't do this, the world would come to an end.

I'm not sure about all other Americans, but I would be far more willing to invest in the stock of a bank where the CEO isn't a dribbling coward and I'm betting that first CEO that started this Congressional chastising would see his company's stock rise dramatically as word spread of the heroism shown. Heck.. he might even take over Sully's spotlight! ;-)
