Please Ignore Boycott Calls And Keep The All-Star Game In Phoenix

Based on information and prompting from http://www.numbersusa.com/, I sent the following email to the MLB - Major League Baseball and to the MLB Players Association.

Subject: Please Ignore Boycott Calls And Keep The All-Star Game In Phoenix

Please see the below points of information:

Most media reports suggest that almost everyone involved in Major League Baseball believe the Arizona law is racist. This is far from the truth. Indeed, former Puerto Rican MLB great and current Cleveland coach Sandy Alomar has said, "Certainly I am against profiling any race and having stereotypes, but at the same time my feeling is what does baseball have to do with politics? Let the politicians stay in politics and the baseball players play baseball." I agree with his question: what does baseball have to do with politics? The answer is nothing!

Arizona's immigration enforcement law is not racist because it does not target a specific race; it only targets those who have already broken the law by coming to and residing in the United States illegally. This is clearly not something Major League Baseball needs to get involved in.

Arizona's new immigration enforcement law is not racist and will help put unemployed Americans back to work -- principally Black and Hispanic Americans because these Americans have the highest unemployment rates and compete against illegal aliens for jobs.

Please do not believe the lies being spread about Arizona's immigration enforcement law. Anti-American worker, pro-illegal alien activists are using race-baiting scare tactics to bully people into avoiding Arizona. Please do not join that list and do not support moving the 2011 All-Star game from Phoenix

More than two-thirds of the American people support the Arizona immigration enforcement law and most of these Americans are fans of Major League Baseball. If the 2011 All-Star game is moved away from Phoenix, it would set a dangerous precedent. Sport is supposed to rise above petty partisan politics. Please don't give in to the small group of vocal, lying pro-illegal alien, anti-American worker activists!

If Major League Baseball decides to boycott Arizona, I and millions more Americans will boycott Major League Baseball. We want nothing to do with an organization that would work to subvert the rule of law and the wishes of the American people.

Sincerely,

Lenny Vasbinder

  1. The real flaw in the logic here is that some folks believe that the violence and illegal activity is due to undocumented workers. In reality, violent crime is down in Arizona but the media and the hard-liners in AZ make sure that if an undocumented worker is involved, it's big news, but the facts are that violent crime has slowed in the last few years in AZ. The law passed isn't going to stop the real problem which are drug runners and smugglers, It isn't even going to slow them down.

There was a great article in the LA Times featuring an interview with an ex-Phoenix cop who had to deal with these issues. (http://www.latimes.com/news/local/immigration/la-me-0502-lopezcolumn-20100502%2C0%2C2732982.column)

And he said it very plainly after a white cop was killed: "I told people that it's not whites or Hispanics who killed Marc," he said back then. "It's drug-dealing cop killers. The issue isn't ethnicity — it's crime and drugs."

And this is the real problem with this law is that it doesn't address the real issue, at all.

  2. You say that only "some folks" believe that which is true and that logic is flawed. The FACT is that they are not "undocumented workers", they are ILLEGAL ALIENS who have broken into our country and are trespassing on our land by the mere fact that they are here.

The analogy I use with my local politicians and with emails and phone calls to out-of-town, other State and National politicians is...

IF SOMEONE BROKE INTO YOUR ATTIC AND MADE IT THEIR HOME AND LIVED THERE FOR DAYS, WEEKS, MONTHS OR EVEN YEARS... AND THEN ONE DAY, YOU FIND OUT THEY ARE LIVING THERE... WOULD YOU CONTINUE TO LET THEM LIVE THERE OR WOULD YOU CALL THE POLICE TO HAVE THEM REMOVED, ARRESTED AND THROWN IN JAIL FOR BREAKING INTO YOUR HOME? OBVIOUSLY, YOU'D DO THAT... ALTHOUGH THERE MAY BE THE OCCASIONAL PERSON THAT WOULD FEEL SORRY FOR THEM AND LET THEM CONTINUE TO LIVE IN THEIR ATTIC FOR FREE, USING THEIR ELECTRICITY, WATER AND POSSIBLY EVEN STEALING THEIR FOOD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT.

THESE ILLEGAL ALIENS WHO BROKEN INTO AMERICA NEED TO BE ARRESTED AND PUT IN JAIL OR RETURNED TO THEIR COUNTRY OF ORIGIN. THE BORDER NEEDS TO BE SECURED AND PATROLLED BETTER TO STOP THE DRUG RUNNERS, SMUGGLERS AND ILLEGAL ALIENS FROM GETTING INTO AMERICA IN THE FIRST PLACE.

BESIDES ALL THAT, THESE SO-CALLED "undocumented workers" ARE TAKING JOBS THAT OUT OF WORK AMERICANS COULD BE DOING!!!
